I was born in Fort Worth, TX and raised in New Orleans, LA and Houston, TX.  As a result of a little bouncing around as I grew up, I have come to crave new  experiences and lasting connections. I graduated from Miami University (OH) with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature/Creative Writing, so I am an avid reader of all genres and would love to start writing again in the future.  I also graduated with a Master of Arts in Teaching (PK-8) from College of Charleston. I taught middle school language arts, social studies, science, and math during my seven years with Charleston County School District. I was sad to leave my students and community when my husband was transferred to Dallas, but I soon met smiling faces and quickly learned to cherish the Plano community.  I laid my new teaching roots down in Plano ISD, and ended up teaching English at Renner Middle School for six years. I took some time off to be a full-time, stay-at-home mom when our third child, Wyatt, was born.

I am ready to get back in the classroom and explore the endless possibilities and opportunities the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) model will will provide for our students.  I have learned many lessons teaching over the years, but the most important has been to “get out of the way of the learning process”. I am a huge fan of Maria Montessori. She believed that “early childhood education is the key to the betterment of society” and that ‘the greatest sign of success for a teacher… is to be able to say, ‘The children are now working as if I did not exist.’ I couldn’t say it better myself.  I look forward to meeting everyone. Full STEAM ahead!!!
